About Us
Welcome to Sweet Impressions. As you visit our site, we
hope to put you well on your way to choosing the perfect
cake for any special occasion. As you will see in our photo
gallery, almost anything is possible when it comes to cakes.
Sweet Impressions is owned and
completely operated by the husband and wife team of Karl and
Stephanie Will with periodic assistance from their daughter
Olivia (7) and son Parker (5). Karl does all the
baking and building of cakes while Stephanie has a great eye
for designing as well as the patience and ability for
decorating. Olivia is a dedicated chief taste tester. All
the work is done in their 750 square foot commercially
licensed, health board approved kitchen behind their home in
Central, Louisiana. By having no one besides Karl and
Stephanie working in the kitchen to perform all the baking,
decorating, deliveries, and cleaning of the facilities and
equipment; the quality and consistency of the final product
can be guaranteed.
Karl was in the kitchen in Midwestern
Illinois baking since he was 5 years old learning from his
mother influenced by a strong German background. In 1988
he graduated from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde
Park, New York. Since then he has worked in world-renowned
hotels, 5 star restaurants and pastry shops located in areas
such as:
Jacksonville,
Florida Los Angeles, California San Francisco,
California Napa,
California Missoula,
Montana Dallas, Texas
In the five years before Sweet
Impressions was launched in September 2003, Karl worked as
executive pastry chef at The Baton Rouge Country Club in
Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Using his extensive pastry
experience, Karl is out to dispel that long-standing myth
that wedding cakes only have to look Good!
Stephanie uses her marketing degree
from Louisiana Tech to run much of the business end of Sweet
Impressions. Don’t think that her works ends there though.
Growing up in Central, LA right around the corner from Sweet
Impressions’ current location, she amassed over 18 years of
experience in sculpting and painting in various medians
including pottery, ceramics and cakes. Her ability to
design and create works of edible art really comes to
light. In addition to a love of cooking and baking, her experience helps when developing
flavors for new cakes and desserts.
Using
only the freshest ingredients and making all cakes, filling,
and frostings from scratch, Sweet Impressions can create a
masterpiece for you. Whether it is the most elegant or
extravagant bridal cake, a very unique or theme grooms cake,
or a simple butterfly cake for a 3 year old birthday party,
Sweet Impressions will work hard to get exactly what the
customer wants. Quality, consistency, and customer
satisfaction are all top concerns for Karl and Stephanie.
With Karl making sure it tastes good and Stephanie ensuring
the right look, Sweet Impressions is confident to make
anyone’s special day a complete success!
